Nifty

Some days I LOVE my job! Today is one of those days. Ian* (my student) gave me these socks! I think they are pretty "nifty"!

So every class takes on a personality of their own. Its fun watching each (and helping each) evolve over our short 9 weeks together! So today I said goodbye to one of my favorite classes of all time. 4th hour, 6th grade. Two things that you need to know about them:
  1. nif·ty adj, noun, verb, exclamation \ˈnif-tē\ :to be interjected in any sentence at any time, doing this means you are cool: to be written anywhere, this also means you are cool.

  2. "Ms. Ware, what socks are you wearing today?" .... The surest question to get the class 1-3 minute of free off track conversation. (because it lead to the whole class then showing off their socks too!)

Ian came up to me today at the start of class and handed me a red paper sack. I asked him what it was. "Something" was his shrugged response. I asked him eagerly if I could open it now. With a held back smile he said I could. I open it up to these nifty socks! I can't begin to tell you the happiness in my heart!! I had to put them on right then (in spite of the smelly feet!) The whole class was very excited!

He told me later that he wanted to get me two pairs but his sister kept the other. I told him my heart could only handle one pair of such nifty socks. He then told me he was really "saving me" from only giving me one pair. I thanked him for "saving me" ;)

pretty nifty huh?

I love them!
